Inspiration

... was workin' out in the back yard most of the afternoon yesterday (outfitting a riverboat actually)... was accompanied for the better part of that time by the melodic refrain of a songbird (appropriately enough) perched somewhere nearby (never did spot the guy)... after a while, and wrapped up in the project at hand, eventually caught ourself subconsciously whistling along and by this time began to recognize a familiar tune, even adding the final chords to the melody  - couldn't quite place it nor the name of the tune, however, which became a bit of a bug... finished work for the time being and, still trying to recollect the tune, decided to conduct a bit of on-line search and finally came across this popular 1980's song...

... Double (doo-blay) - The Captain of Her Heart...

... the interesting part is this comment we read concerning the song's backstory...

... "I asked Felix (Maloo) what had inspired him to come up with a melody like that. He said he was sitting at his piano in his apartment on a sunny day in spring, windows wide open. On a tree outside there was a blackbird singing the first two notes of the melody repeatedly. He caught the notes... and started to jam to the blackbird's singing until he had that final lick"...

... a bit of springtime inspiration...
