... been probably ten years, but was accompanied by old bikin' buddy 'Howie' along for the ride...
... ... took a trip to check out a local overlook located up on the ridge...
... hadn't been there in quite a while - the 'Yough River' far below, cutting a "water gap" through 'Chestnut Ridge'...
... acorn and sprouting "baby" Oak Tree...
... then headed over to 'Foleys Pond'...
... were both feelin' pretty good considering the long layoff - decided to continue on to check out an old, favorite hill climb... didn't get much further 'till we met this "road block"...
... a private logging company from West Virginia who had been "timbering" the area for the past year or so, after recently completing their contract, dropped stuff like this across the main "road" and most all the side trails about every hundred feet or so while "retreating" with their equipment - is like this the whole way out to 'Sandy Flats Road' we're told... said that they were highly pissed about all the constant theft, destruction and vandalism inflicted on their tools and equipment while working there - were "gettin' even" with the culprits who travel by four wheelers, quad-runners and dirt bikes - can't say that I blame them...
... but they sure "buggered up" the joint... will be curious to see how this all plays out (if at all considering the logic and attitude of the current PA Game Commission administration) - we understand that the main road/trail is actually a township road (albeit unimproved) that is to always remain open to emergency and fire equipment access... but when it comes down to it, we really don't care anymore... lots of good fire wood for cuttin', though...
... Sunday headed out on the water...
... 'muscle girl Sarah' along this day on the SUP...
... doin' a few laps...
... there's quite a few good "One Off" boulders all along the 'Yough' shoreline and adjacent woods - always thought that this one would make a good Fall photograph - got around to it this day...
... Ha - found this old photo of one - date on back of print says "June '84"... there's many along the 'Lower Yough' - some pretty large... stopped once or twice at one pretty nice spot up there which contains quite a few nice boulders - think that it was on the eastern shoreline opposite 'Double Hydraulic' rapid - may be wrong - would know it to see it, though - would be a long hike in to there, however...
