Was out and about last evening. Stopped over to check out ice formation at a convenient cliff...
None too impressive. The main flow is decent, and that's it. That wall should be solid ice considering the past two weeks of consistent minus thirty-two degree and single digit temperatures. The nearby Yough river is froze solid. Might get some relief this coming week with some warming daytime temperatures with nights remaining cold. Looks like a bit of sunshine as well. Combine that with the ten inches of recent snowfall. Till then we would expect any flows dependent upon groundwater seeps to be sparse. On the other hand, surface flow waterfalls (e.g., Layton Falls, Workman Run Falls and such) would be expected to be fat. We haven't looked at any so don't take our word for it. Another fall and winter of near drought conditions hereabout's. That's two years in a row that we couldn't even get out to autumn fly fish the local creeks. Conditions supposed to moderate at bit more toward normal until at least mid February, so we expect much improvement (maybe not).
