Thirty Six Years Of MTB/Backcountry (Cinema Part 7)

 Things can't be all bad...

... we're still crankin' (nice day last October) - although no more all day marathon cross country rides over the ridges thru the woods thru the hollows thru the creeks thru the mud thru the rivers up the hills down the hills up more hills down more hills - we keep it to the short standard routes, around ten miles maximum now'days - still, some rugged terrain, but we ain't sayin' where anymore...

If it averaged more than 3mph over 20+ miles it couldn't be much of a ride per the standards of these three guys

Thought that we'd post up an old film we originally had up on the website. No high speed acrobatics/aerobatics per todays standards. Fun none the less. A tour along some of the favorite local trails. We (along with the local 4wheelers) used to spend a lot of time keepin' them passable - they're for the most part overgrown today:

Backcountry (1998)
Run Time: 27min (Approx.)
Shot entirely on 16mm film (MOS), transferred/edited/dubbed on video tape. Several generation transfer so isn't the best (SD) definition. We discussed the specifics in an earlier post. Haven't viewed that film in probably ten years. We can still remember the location of every shot. We want to thank 'Dan Crary' and 'Tangerine Dream' for no issues with the soundtrack for posting to 'YouTube'.

A batch of (35mm film/Digital SLR) random still images from throughout the years. Posted many (if not all) in various prior posts:

Some views from the trails

Some steep hills

Some steeper hills

Mudholes, creek and river crossings

Lots of breakdowns - always fixed or worked around 'em "on the fly" - never once pushed our way out of the woods in over a couple hundred rides (we proudly comment - and we've broken everything at one time or another - broken chains and derailleurs the most common "major" breakdown). Doesn't have to be fun to be fun.
