3%ers*

Well the first thing you know
                                                               Ol' Jed's a millionaire
                                                                                   - The Ballad Of Jed Clampett
                                                                                     (Flatt and Scruggs, 1962)

"Ninety percent of everything is crap"
                                                                                   - Theodore Sturgeon

Strong Man Matt and a chance meeting with his old boss and frequent mentor, 84 Lumber founder and CEO Joe Hardy, at St. Louis' Lambert International Airport (STL). We'll bet this time around that Joe was quizzin' the "crypto cowboy" concerning a bit of digital investment strategy. Matt was somewhat of a pioneer in the digital currency market. He attempted to school us a time or two. In his customary prestissimo, he'd be speed rattling terminology, e.g., bitcoins, encryption, blockchain, mining and such. At the time complete babble to us. Should have applied ourselves - lookin' back on some of his suggestions, would probably be settin' on a couple million bucks at this current time. Problem being, like ol' Jed, we'd of still likely have rather been out settin' under a large tree somewhere, whittlin' on a  block of softwood.

*Not to be confused with the extremist group... we've been using the term since the early 1980's subsequent to a lecture by a physics class instructor who stated that in his teaching experience that only around three percent of students achieved any level of virtuosity in their "chosen profession". Everyone in the then class of thirty students (all guys) immediately began looking around the room at each other. He then stated that, always subsequent to that comment, ninety-seven percent of the students would scan the room. One guy, ahem, (out of the usual thirty count) didn't. Over the years we found that to be a pretty accurate estimation no matter what the endeavor.

Roosevelt's Bear

From the film 'The Wind and the Lion' (1975). A master class of brilliant dynamic narrative dialog from screenwriter/director John Milius (viewed sequential, top ta' bottom):

(YouTube Videos)

Brian Keith with (best portrayal) as President Theodore Roosevelt. Sean Connery as the Raisuli. Added bonus - John Huston's portrayal as Secretary of State  John Hay. And the philosophical stoicism of Milius.
