Balance

... we try to make this trip at least once or twice each summer...

... five miles of this...

... bit of a grunt on a 90ยบ+ morning...

... gets ya' to five miles of this...

... lots of nature - here viewing our favorite one mile stretch of the 'Yough'...

... coolin' off in tributary 'Indian Creek' following the long slog...

... mouth of 'Indian Creek' and CSX Railroad trestles - an old abandoned spur line near - active main line far...

... part of the landscape... they don't build 'em like this anymore - lots of craftsmanship (almost a work of art) in this old stone trestle which still services the active rail line...

... a bit of natural construction - viewing river north from a new gravel dam - a bit of self improvement from last winters seasonal high waters... every stone in it's place in the grand scheme of things...

... rhododendron's in full bloom this day...

... ditto...

... further downstream - adding a bit of scale to 'Iron Man' (see previous post - 'Penny Rock Boulders')...

... and 'the Ass'... now re-dubbed 'the Ass Nazi' following some further intense archaeological research on our part...

... definitely the largest spider we've ever encountered (here'bouts)... nothing to mark scale - leg tip to leg tip this guy was as long as the five inch compact camera body used to photograph this image... not the best photograph because of a film of water on the camera lens, but we don't care - we're more into the narrative around here than the "artsy-fartsy" (well, at least 90% of the time), nor are we tryin' to sell ya' a camera...
